Karen Kosko, Education/Outreach

Karen Kosko, Education/OutreachKaren Kosko has been teaching since 1973, and she has been teaching as a Library Media Specialist at the Haggerty School in Cambridge for seventeen years. During her teaching career, Karen  has been the Education Chair of Young Audiences of MA, and on the boards of Cambridge Community TV [CCTV] ,CitySprouts, and Friends of the Cambridge Public Library. Karen has consistently innovative with her teaching approach, always welcoming in new and exciting programs that engage her students in an informal setting playing on their strengths and interests; for example, with 6th graders, she created ‘From the Top’ radio shows for four years and she traveled with educators to China and Greece for curriculum writing.

Ms. Kosko has won the CEASE 2008 Annual Peace Award and was awarded the National Crystal book Literacy Leadership Award from the MA Teachers Association [MTA] and Verizon. She has tirelessly worked with local artists, authors, illustrators, and musicians to enhance the curriculum at school, inviting them to come speak to her students, give performances, donate books, and teach seminars.
